Who doesn't love a goldfish on the Gold Coast? They are one of the earliest fish to be domesticated as pets and are the most common breed of fish kept in an aquarium. Goldfish are the most popular of all ornamental fish and are known for their attractive bright colours.
And one thing I am sure about is everyone on the Gold Coast has gone to the stage of their lives that they ask their parents for pets. And the best choice, or should I say most common option there is, buy that little Goldie you saw in a pet shop this morning.
Goldfish as a pet is quite expensive. It can grow up to 10-12 inches so you have to buy a bigger bowl cause if not, it will eventually die. Easy to dispose of as well as when your pet goes belly up, you can just flush it down the toilet.
Flushing your pet down your toilet might not be safe like what you think. Your little Goldie should be a contender for the "Survival of the fittest" because goldfish sometimes seem to be dead but there is still 10% of life there. And flushing an alive fish can cause real damage to your sewer system. It might inflict
major changes to your pipes.
Why? Cause they are surviving, growing and multiplying! And as they survive, grow and multiply, it will block your drainage system.
Blocked household drains
tend to occur within the areas of toilet,
bathroom, or sink plumbing, but regardless of the clogged pipe or drain the result is the accumulation of wastewater. It is this stagnant water that can cause health problems, and that fact alone means that it’s well worth getting your drain unblocked as soon as possible.
So, if your pet dies, bury it, don't flush. Or if you are fed up petting a fish, just donate Goldie to a local pet store on the Gold Coast. How's that?
